A Little Retail Therapy

Hey all, I hope you had a good St. Paddy's Day. Did you do anything fun that you feel like sharing? My manner of celebrating in years past was to go to the nearest pseudo-Irish bar and get my drink on while listening to loud music, but that isn't really doable with babies. It's okay -- I've had my share of green beer! The highlight of my day was taking Olivia for a nice long walk outside while Tony made veggie burgers and oven fries for dinner. She is so curious about everything. I'm really glad the weather is warming up so we can go explore nature together.

We are just eating simple, no-fuss meals, trying to clean out the cabinets in preparation for our move. The other night I tossed gemelli pasta with cherry tomatoes and pesto. The kids couldn't get enough of this. Gemelli is a good type of pasta for Olivia -- easy to grasp. Ditalini and rotini are other good baby pastas.

I've been wearing my eyes out looking at house rentals, pet couriers, and movers. Lots of emails and phone calls. When I needed to take a break, I went to the mall and bought a few things.

I'm going to try to use this bag as a diaper bag. It has pockets on the side that should be perfect for holding sippy cups, but I'm not sure if it's big enough. The bag I used since Jackson was wee finally wore out, and I've been using a backpack that I got for free. Free is nice, but it's too bulky for my taste. Besides, this bag is much cuter.

I am all about the accessories.

Last but not least, couple of shirts. How fun to look at short-sleeve shirts, skirts, and sundresses, knowing that I will soon be putting away my sweaters and corduroys.

I rarely shop without the kids, so it was relaxing to take my time browsing the clothing racks and trying things on.  I'm no fashion plate, I usually stick to Target and H&M with the occasional band t-shirt or thrift store find thrown into the mix. Works for me. Where do you like to clothes shop? Bought anything cute lately?

Have a great weekend you guys. And if you haven't seen this video yet, you must watch, although your ears will be mad at you. We we we so excited!

  3. Wow. I never would have watched that video, but you are the second person in my world to mention it this week so I watched. Ouch.

I went a little crazy last weekend clothes shopping. All I really wanted was some more work out pants and a new bathing suit. I ended up having to put back like 10 things I actually wanted and still came home with a bathing suit, work out pants, a couple of shirts for work and a robe. Luckily I had been saving up some money.

    Have a great weekend!

  4. I end up buying a lot from Target simply because it's easy to take the kids in and out there, plus we can all fit in the big dressing room. It's sad that these are the factors affecting my style. Target has cute stuff, though!

My clothing origination of choice: hand me downs from my sisters. They tire of clothes quicker than I do, so I often get what they don't want. And they both have good taste.

  5. This is a fun post -- just curious -- why were you excited about Rebecca Black's video? Do you have a connection there? Of course my 13 year old daughter with her own u-tube channel and all her friends have a lot to say about this video. She would be interested in knowing if there is some connection to one of my favorite bloggers! Your pasta looks delish! I get a lot of clothes at Walmart, shockingly. It's where I shop for the non-vegan food in my household because it is so cheap. Nobody believes that's where I get some very cute things. It's because most of the clothes are gross, but when something good comes in, it is instantly gone and never seen again. And of course since I am in there every day for something I forgot, I get to snap up the cute stuff. comment's too long -- sorry. I'm on prednisone and feelin' a little like Charlie Sheen right now . . .

  6. Jenny, I always see the cutest stuff at Target when I'm there buying diapers or whatever. I got the diaper bag and pattern shirt there.

Cheryl - I just think the song is hilariously awful :) I don't think I've ever looked for clothes at Walmart, but my mother-in-law has found cute clothes there for the babies.

  7. Yeah, I was just wondering about your thoughts on that video. It has gone viral all over the middle school and high school here because of how bad it is, but I didn't want to offend you if she was a friend of yours or something!

  8. Wow you are busy. Sounds like a lot of fun things though, so I guess that's good. I havn't been shopping clothes since summer due to living abroad and my backpack is stuffed as it is. Looking forward to do it in two weeks when I'm back in Sweden though!

  9. Isn't it heaven without shopping with the kids! I still have a hard time going clothes shopping, so I tend to buy online. Found my new favorite place, Land's End Canvas. They are expensive for sure, but I found they have these Classified ads each month and things get knocked down in prices super cheap. Since Christmas, I have gotten cute shirts for only a few bucks and some really nice work pants for my husband for only $10. Can't beat those prices for the quality of the clothes. Someday I will be able to go shop at real stores again.
